Dr. Joshua Blanchard

“Augustine of Hippo on Human Nature and Original Sin”

Dr. Joshua Blanchard currently lives in Murrells Inlet and attends Church of the Ascension in Carolina Forest. He holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen, where he wrote on St Augustine, philosophical ethics, and political theology. His lecture, entitled “Augustine of Hippo on Human Nature and Original Sin,” will help us to grapple with the way an influential thinker has affected our theological inheritance in the church concerning a central tenet of our faith: how we conceive of ourselves and the sin that affects us all.

Rev. Dr. Cameron Crickenberger

“The Trinitarian God behind Baptism and Communion in Holy Scripture”

The Rev. Dr. Cameron Crickenberger is a Myrtle Beach native and the planting pastor of Church of the Ascension in Carolina Forest. He holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews in Systematic and Historical Theology, where he wrote a constructive theology of trinitarian love. His lecture, entitled “The Trinitarian God behind Baptism and Communion in Holy Scripture,” will draw attention to the trinitarian structure present in the Scriptural foundations for these two fundamental practices of Christian worship.

Christian Kalmbach currently lives in Wilmington, NC, where he works for the academic publisher W. W. Norton. He is a PhD candidate in Historical and Systematic Theology at the University of St Andrews, where he is writing on the theology of Petrus von Maastricht and Christoph Schwöbel, with specific focus on their trinitarian construction and the concepts of covenant, glory, and love.
